Senior Accountant
Own day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring the books are accurate, timely, and compliant with VAS, Decree 99, and IFRS where applicable. The role verifies and reconciles accounts payable and receivable, drives the month-end and year-end close, prepares financial statements and budgets, supports tax and audit processes, and partners with the Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to strengthen accounting systems, policies, and internal controls.
What You'll Do
Accounting Operations & Reporting
- Month-end & Year-end Closing: Lead month-end and year-end closing processes, including executing adjusting entries, prepayments allocation, fixed asset depreciation, accruals/provisions, payroll cost,...
- GL Control: Review, verify, and reconcile detailed data from sub-ledgers (Accounts Payable/Receivable, cash/bank, fixed assets, Payroll,...) against the general ledger to ensure accuracy and validity, produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
- Financial Statements: Prepare and Analyze periodic Financial Statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Notes to Financial Statements) on a monthly and annual basis for the Board of Directors.
- Management Reporting: Prepare cost, revenue, and cash flow analysis reports, along with other management reports as requested by the Finance Manager, Accounting Manager.
- Process Improvement: Participate in setting up, reviewing, and improving accounting workflows, internal document circulation systems, and optimizing the accounting software/ERP system.
- Produce budgets according to schedule.
Compliance, Controls & Audit
- Ensure compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and Decree 99.
- Assist with reporting under IFRS.
- Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Periodic Tax Reporting: Directly prepare and submit tax declarations (Value Added Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Personal Income Tax, Foreign Contractor Tax, etc.) within statutory deadlines.
- Tax Finalization: Execute year-end tax finalization procedures for CIT and PIT.
- Policy Update & Advisory: Continuously update new tax laws, circulars, and decrees. Advise the Finance Manager, Accounting Manager on compliant tax optimization solutions.
- Working with Authorities: Work directly with, explain data, and provide required documents to Tax Authorities during inspections, audits, or upon ad-hoc requests.
- Risk Management: Assess tax risks in commercial contracts and company transactions, proposing solutions to minimize legal risks.
Financial Planning & Business Partnering
- Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process.
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
- Provide technical support and advice on management accounting matters.
- Liaise with the Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to improve financial procedures.
What We're Looking For
Must-have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including exposure to financial reporting, tax, and audit support.
- Strong working knowledge of VAS and Decree 99/2025; working knowledge of IFRS is required.
- Proven experience with month-end/year-end close, accounts payable/receivable, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
- Strong sense of ownership and integrity, with the ability to plan, assign, and review the work of junior staff and manage multiple deadlines.
- AI Application Skills: Proficiency in using Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) for summarizing regulatory documents, generating Excel formulas/VBA scripts, researching accounting treatments, financial model, pricing. Experience with AI-powered accounting automation tools is a major advantage.
Nice-to-have
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CMA) or progress toward one.
- Experience with IFRS reporting or multinational/group consolidation.
- Experience in Fintech or a fast-growing technology company.
- Familiarity with AI or BI tools for reporting automation and data visualization.
